About Direct Medics
This year, we’re proud to celebrate our 25th anniversary, marking a quarter-century of placing healthcare professionals in locum roles across both the public and private sectors in the UK and Ireland. Our long-standing reputation speaks to the trust and reliability we’ve built within the healthcare sector.
Location: Gartnavel General Hospital/Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
Grade & Speciality: Consultant / Spr Anaphylaxis
Dates: ASAP for 3 months initially, likely to extend on a 3 monthly basis
Rota: Monday to Friday
Details: This post will offer experience of the full range of presentations associated with Anaphylaxis, severe allergy and the common mimics of these conditions.
Fully supported by consultants during out-patient clinics, specialty doctors will be expected to practise independently after a period of training. Clinics will be supported by experienced clinicians and by multi-disciplinary review of cases where expertise from clinician, dietitian and specialty nurse will provide comprehensive support for all our doctors and patients.
In the early phase of the post, a specialty doctor will shadow a more experienced clinician, before leading consultations with review. It has been our experience this period lasts a month or so before a colleague feels confident and safe to lead consultations with occasional review supported by the MDT.
Specialty Doctors will undergo annual appraisal with an allocated appraiser, in line with GMC requirements for revalidation. A clinical and educational supervisor will be designated to ensure specialty doctors are supported in their role and any additional learning needs are met.
The conditions of service are those laid down and amended from time to time by the Hospital and Medical & Dental Whitley Council.
This is a 7.5 PA post and includes 1 core SPA.
